"when in doubt sketch"
In school I did not like drawing. Realism seemed unobtainable and didn't appeal to me. I first started sketching because I love to travel and it was more portable than many other forms of art. I had to label my sketchbooks "practice books" so that I wouldn't judge my drawing skill. Little by little through practice I came to like drawing and even feel that I have a style. I now bring a sketchbook with me almost everywhere I go so 5 minutes of waiting can turn into something beautiful (and I can avoid the urge to reach for my phone).
